Environmental Health & Water Quality Technology
Milwaukee Area Technical College
This program promotes environmental protection, improvement and sustainability, with a focus on protecting our water, food and air resources. Hands-on coursework includes techniques used to determine water, food, and air quality along with implementing needed corrective actions.
Career Outlook: There is a steady need for technicians and specialists in water and air quality, food safety, field monitoring that includes lakes, rivers and streams, as well as other environmental careers.
Program Learning Outcomes
Evaluate environmental health hazards (air, food, water, soil, etc.)
Conduct both field and lab environmental sampling/monitoring according to regulatory requirements and guidelines
Perform corrective actions to remediate environmental health hazards
Communicate measures for the prevention of environmental health hazards
Develop environmental technical records and reports
